Research Facts
Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; Rubifoam toothpaste was introduced in 1887 and was named for its red bright colour; this card would have been soaked in E.W. Hoyt's original product, their German cologne; the company first started advertising with sample bottles, but as it grew too expensive they began producing advertising cards soaked in the perfume; the cards were made with an extra-porous type of paper in order to soak up the cologne
