This bottle contains tablets of corrosive sublimate ammonium chloride antiseptic. It was the common name for mercuric chloride or mercury (II) chloride that has been used in nineteenth-century photography and biological / anthropological preservation processes. As a medicinal product, it was used to treat syphilis and yaws but was extremely toxic. This bottle is filled with the round tablets.
