Hirschman anoscope, which consists of a two-piece metal instrument; the anoscope (a) consists of a short length of hollow cylindrical tubing attached to a handle; the tube is open at both ends; the tip is bevelled and the end is round with a surrounding round lip; the handle is flat with rounded edges and end; the centre of the handle has a round cut-out area and the bottom has a teardrop-shaped cut-out area; the handle narrows between these two areas; an obturator (b) fits into the cylindrical tubing of the anoscope; the obturator consists of a solid cylindrical metal bar with a solid cylindrical tip end that is larger in diameter and somewhat bevelled at the rounded tip; the other end of the bar has a spool-shaped cylindrical handle piece that is made of solid metal

Condition Remarks
The metal shows minor wear, but the chrome is complete and unstained; no corrosion or staining is visible; the two parts arrived taped together with masking tape, which was removed
