The dental forceps arrived attached to a display board with wire and glue gun adhesive; the forceps
were dirty with a sticky residue when they arrived; there are a few corrosion spots on the forceps;
overall, most of the metal is undamaged; the moving parts move freely

Dental syringe, which consists of a syringe, 8 needles, and a wrench in a box; the syringe (a-c) consists of (a) a solid cylindrical metal plunger with a flat thumb press piece at the end; this piece has rounded edges; the cylindrical part of the plunger goes through (b) a metal nut that has a cylindrical open centre and hexagonal outer edges; the end of the nut that is closest to the plunger is smooth inside, while the other end is threaded to allow it to be attached to (c) a metal barrel with finger grips; thebarrel is cylindrical and threaded at one end; the other end is tapered, but also threaded to allow the attachment of needles (d-k); the needles all have a hollow round threaded inner part and hexagonal outer edges at the base which then tapers outwards to a hollow cylindrical needle; the ends vary: (d) open, with no needle; (e-g) with short straight needles; (h-j) with short straight needles on angles; (k) has a round base and a long straight needle; there is also (l) a round threaded cap that fits onto and closes the tip of the syringe; there is also a wrench (m) that is made of flat metal with two rounded ends and fit onto the nut and the base of the needles; all pieces are stored in (n) a rectangular-shaped cardboard box with closed sides and bottom and (o) a separate lid that fits over and covers the box; both the outside top and bottom of the box have a paper cover; the top has printed manufacturing information on it

The nut (b) is stamped, "PAT. FEB 25, 1900"; the syringe barrel (c) is stamped, "THE RANDALL-FAICHNEY CO. BOSTON U.S.A. // IMPERIAL NO. 3"; all the needle bases (d-j) have the word "IMPERIAL" stamped into them; the top of the lid (o) reads, "ONE // CRUTCH HANDLE // Imperial // Dental Syringe, No. 3 // (PATENT No. 880433.) // WITH WRENCH AND EXTRA PACKINGS. // GRADUATED, NON-CORROSIVE METAL CYLINDER, HIGH PRESSURE PACKING, // IMPROVED FILLING DEVICE. // For perfect results use the IMPERIAL (Hexagon ) NEEDLE with R-B // Polished Edge Points and the IMPERIAL HIGH PRESSURE POINTS. // THE RANDALL FAICHNEY COMPANY // BOSTON // Trade R+B Mark // Reliability and Beauty in Manufacture."

Tooth extracting forceps, which consist of a plier-like instrument that is made of two joined halves; the handles are fairly straight, but curve very slightly outwards, then come closer near the ends; the ends are both rounded off; the outside edges of most of the handles have a cross-hatched pattern stamped into the metal to provide a better grip for the user; the forcep halves are joined together with a box lock joint just below the tips; the tips of the forceps are rounded on their outer edges and flat on the inner edges; each tip comes up at a 45 deg. angle, then bends another 45 deg. angle forwards to end in a blunted end that joins with the other tip; the inside of the tips have a rounded groove cut into the metal
