Inscriptions
A label on the underside of the lid reads: "W & T AVERY // Manufacturers of all kinds of // Scales, Scale Beams, Steelyards, Patent Weighing Machines: // Screw Plates, Die Stocks &c. &c. // DIGBETH // BIRMINGHAM"; four of the weights (c,r,s,t) have a picture of a lion on top of a crown stamped onto one side; above the lion/crown is stamped the word "STANDARD"; below the lion/crown is stamped: "W. & T. A."; on the opposite side is stamped the size of the weight, ranging from two drams to 1 1/2 scruples.
