- Cystoscope in case, consisting of (a) a convex sheath that is a hollow, cylindrical tube which can house either the obturator (b) or the double catheterizing telescope (d); the bullet-shaped tip of the sheath, which bends at a 45 deg. angle, features an opening to accomodate the obturator and telescope tips as well as a light bulb; the opposite end has a cast key-like opening for obturator or telescope as well as two small valves that protrude from the sides; the obturator is a thin, solid cylindrical metal instrument with flared ends; the bullet-shaped tip is cast to fit the sheath opening and has a rather sharp bevelled edge; the opposite end has a solid gripping handle that tapers from a rounded cube to a cylinder; the obturator fits inside the sheath with the tip coming out of the sheath opening and the gripping handle fitting tightly against the open end; the eyepiece (c) fits onto the end of the sheath tube; this lens consists of a very short length of hollow cylindrical metal tubing with a glass cover on one end and a round opening on the other; the end with the glass cover has a larger diameter and grooves on the outside edge; the double catheterizing telescope (d) consists of two parallel hollow tubes that are joined along their entire length; on one end the tubes come to a sharp bevelled point and on the other end the tubes are attached to another lens identical to the eyepiece, that has a red-bordered half-moon shaped glass cover; from this end, two small tubes protrude from the eyepiece and flare at their openings; the brown irrigation tube (e) is a brown rubber cylindrical tube which is open at one end; the opposite end has a small metal tube which tapers down to a very minute opening; this tapered metal tube fits into the rubber tube and is held there with a threaded binding; the typed instructions (f) are typewritten and detail the proper method to clean the cystoscope; all of the pieces fit into a purpose-built case (g), which is made of black cloth-covered wood with a green velvet lining on the inside; the case is rectangular in shape, is hinged at the back, and has a metal clasp at the front; the inside of the case has built-in green velvet dividers which conform to each individual piece; on the inside of the top of the case are two cloth straps which could hold additional components; the top of the box has the maker's name on it

- The convex sheath is stamped "MADE BY BOEHM ROCHESTER," as well as the number "32" near the opening for the obturator at the valve end of the instrument; the obturator is stamped "32" and "NOT CONNECTED WITH THE ELECTRO SURGICAL COMPANY;" the typed instructions are marked, "C. H. BIRD, M.D., C.M. H. G. BIRD, M.B., M.R.C.P. (LONDON) - TELEPHONE 90 'Wigborough' Gananoque, Ont.;" the cloth-covered case is marked "Boehm Surgical Instruments Corp., Rochester, N.Y."
