Description

Research Facts
The pins represent the range of styles given out to School of Nursing graduates between 1886 and 1971 although the earliest pin is actually only from 1908; the owner of the sixth pin was killed and her mother gave the pin to the alumnae.

Description
Large metal skeleton key, which consists of a single piece of metal with a solid cylindrical central section that has an oval loop handle at one end; the other end of the cylindrical section is flat and round; there is a rectangular-shaped pair of teeth coming off to one side just before the outer end of the cylindrical piece; the teeth are close together and each has one rounded and two straight notches cut out from its inner edge, in mirror image to each other.

Condition Remarks
The padlock shows some wear, especially on the front of the key plate; the U-lock and key plate show no corrosion, but there is a very small spot visible at the bottom of the cast iron padlock; (2): some wear on the bolt; latch is worn and tarnished; spotty wear points on body of lock.
