Research Facts
Preceded the thumb lancet. Veterinary fleams lasted into the 20th century, and were bigger than fleams for use on humans, which stopped being produced in the 1800s. They were used with a blood stick, which would be hit against the fleam to pierce the vein. It is possible that country families may have used veterinary fleams on both animals and people.
