Description
Pocket hypodermic syringe case consisting of a syringe with a barrel (a) with two short arms at the end and a plunger (b) with a hexagonal thumbpush; there is a small cap which goes over the tip of the syringe; there are 6 glass canisters containing apomorph hydrochloride (d), morphine sulfate (e), morphine and atropine (f), cocaine hydrochloridum (g), strychnine sulfate (h), and nitroglycerin (i) and two needles (j-k) all stored in a metal flask shaped case (l), the case is stored in a red cloth pouch (m); there are also three unused packages of Iron Arm Surgeons' Needles (n-p); all of the above is stored in a plain brown cardboard box with a base (q) and lid (r).

Dr. Prouse served as a ship's medical officer during WWII rising the rank of Surgeon-Captain; after the war he became an anesthesiologist feeling that he did not have sufficient control over his hands after suffering from rheumatic fever.
