Belonged to and features Hazel McConnell (nee Landon) who was a member of the Kingston General Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1938.
The Kingston General Hospital School of Nursing was one of the first apprenticeship-based nursing training programs in Canada; began in 1886 in response to the increased focus on patient care in hospitals and the medical field; the program was meant to produce an educated and dedicated work force of nurses while also providing an affordable labour force for the hospital through on the job student training; the Ann Baillie Building, current home of the Museum of Health Care at Kingston, originally served as a residence for the student nurses at KGH.

Research Facts
This is a graduation photograph of the Hamilton General Hospital Training School Class of 1946. Verna Mae Sproule (1 May 1922 – 2003), the mother of the artifact donor, was a member of the graduating class; Sproule also briefly worked at Kingston General Hospital as a scrub nurse for Dr. Bingham.
The Hamilton General Hospital training school for nurses was an apprenticeship style program that began in 1890; the program was initially two years, but was expanded to a three-year program led by the head nurse and physicians; it involved formal instruction and on the job training; the Hamilton General Hospital School of Nursing discontinued in 1973 when Mohawk College took over the program.

Research Facts
Dr. George trained in Canada and Scotland, with a specialty in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and began working at Kingston General Hospital in 1963.
These prescriptions were written around the same time that penicillin came to the community.
Many pharmaceutical abbreviations are used in these pages, some of which include "t.i.d.p.c.", which means "three times daily after food", "Rx", which means recipe, and "mitte", which means "send" or "number of tablets provided", and "Sig", which means "write on the label".
