Research Facts
Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; these instruments, with their thin, oval blades, would be used to easily reach the gingival margins, and for working between teeth that are close together; they would be used for filing, or burnishing, new amalgam fillings; Auguste Maillefer began making dental instruments in 1889; the company is now owned by the Dentsply group
