Research Facts
As of Sept. 21, 1999, appraisal value for entire 700+ item collection, not all pieces kept, is $49,206.00; Akron Ohio was considered the rubber capital of the USA during the 1940s – 1970s and was home to many rubber manufacturing plants; foley catheters have two lumen, one lumen is open at both ends, and allows urine to drain out into a collection bag, the other lumen has a valve on the outside end and connects to a balloon at the tip; the balloon is inflated with sterile saline when it lies inside the bladder, in order to stop it from slipping out.
