It is injected intravenously or intramuscularly. Used to treat: anxiety, muscle spasms, alcohol withdrawal, seizures, hallucinations, agitation Also used pre-operation to induce drowsiness, forgetfulness and decrease anxiety. From a class of drugs called benzodiazepines (which affect the central nervous system) it allows the brain to send inhibitory signals through the nerves to calm the body.

Research Facts
It is an intramuscular injection, but can also be taken orally; an anti-psychotic used to treat schizophrenia symptoms for patients over the age of 6 years old. It is a type of phenothiazine, helps restore balance of natural substances in the brain. t can also be used as an anti-anxiety medication, however it is potentially harmful, and safer drugs should be used to treat anxiety before stelazine is attempted.
