The first official graduating class of the Kingston General Hospital School of Nursing was in 1888; the school was created in order to educate nurses as the demand for them increased, as well as providing a labour force to the hospital. When the first nurses graduated, they were given a certificate of completion, twenty five dollars, and a nursing medal. Over the years, nurses were sometimes given pins and/or rings or other memorabilia to commemorate their graduation from the school.

Research Facts
St. Michael's Hospital School of Nursing is an urban Roman Catholic hospital based nursing school in Toronto. It was founded in 1892 by the Sisters of St. Joseph to care for the poor, Beginning with 26 beds, by 1912 there were 300 beds and a five room operating suite. "Between 1892 and 1974, St. Michael's School of Nursing graduated 81 classes, totalling 5,177 graduates. The school was closed in 1974 when nursing education was moved into the province's community college system." Their motto, "Quod Minimis Mihi Fecisti," means "You Did It For Me." The reunion was the 35th anniversary and took place in 1981.
