Rectangular cardboard box containing "The Harvey Double Head Stethoscope"; the box is in two parts (a, b), and the top slides over the bottom; the lid contains a photograph of a stethoscope on a background of a white button down shirt with a chest pocket; the title is printed in black and white above the photograph on a blue background with a tan stripe, and around the photograph there are words printed in black detailing some of the features of the stethoscope; on the front side of the lid there is a white sticker with the date and manufacturing information on it, as well as a barcode; the booklet (u) has the same photograph and graphics style as the box lid; the inside of the booklet contains nine pages and a flap, as well as information on the inside covers; the booklet contains black and white illustrations, and gives information about the different parts of the stethoscope, how to adjust the headset, preparing for the exam, sites of auscultation, heart sounds and murmurs, the flat diaphragm, the corrugated diaphragm, the bell, helpful hints, warranty, ordering information, and care and maintenance; the back of the booklet contains a sticker with the European information; the stethoscope (parts c-i) has metal arms and black rubber tubing; the ear pieces become larger at the ends and the end of the stethoscope has two heads, a bell and a diaphragm; there is a metal piece with black rubber over it that connects the two metal arms to one another; in the box with the stethoscope are a cardboard insert (k) and a small plastic bag filled with three sets of ear pieces (two white and one grey) and a corrugated diaphragm;(m-t); a plastic bag (j) and a green piece of paper (l) with employee information on it.

The Harvey Double Head Stethoscope was part of a collection of stethoscopes by the Welch Allyn company called "Original Harvey Stethoscopes". They are no longer sold, and were replaced by the Harvey DLX stethoscopes.
US Patent No. 3,109,508 was granted on November 5th, 1963, to Ralph Cefaly, and was for an acoustic stethoscope with three heads: a bell, a diaphragm, and a corrugated diaphragm.
In the mid-1950s, Dr. Watkins Proctor Harvey invented this three-headed stethoscope, the Harvey Stethoscope, and it was produced by the Cefaly Research Corporation of Brentwood, Maryland. It was sometimes known as the Harvey Cefaly Stethoscope. The corrugated diaphragm helps detect faint heart activity and a larger range of frequencies. The bell is especially good for detecting low frequency sounds. Low frequency heart sounds called gallops can be signs of heart disease, and are important to be able to detect.
The donor states that it was used from the 1920s through to the 1940s; identical item on website dated to 1930s.

A revolution counter. To count revolutions of the shafts that ran machinery, engineers used counters like this one. The manufacturer, L. S. Starrett Company of Athol , Mass., called the device a speed indicator, although it has no timekeeping apparatus. The steel counter has a flat handle on one side and a rotating cylindrical rod on the other. In between is a flat curved case on which a dial is mounted. Pressing the rod against a rotating shaft rotates it and advances the dial. The edge of the dial is divided into 100 equal parts, which are numbered from 10 to 100 by tens. Two different nozzles fit into the far end of the cylinder. The instrument fits in a red, white, and black paper box.
his counter is one of the many inventions of Laroy Starrett (1836-1922), who was born and raised on a farm in Maine. In 1880, having successfully patented and sold a meat chopper, as well as shoe studs and hooks, Starrett established a business in Athol, Mass., to sell drawing instruments and small tools. He applied for a patent for a speed indicator in 1895, and received it in 1897.

It was sold both directly by Starrett and through distributors of tools and steam engine equipment. This speed indicator is mentioned in Starrett catalogues into the 1930s.
