The Moores & Ross Milk Company was founded in 1903 as a milk bottling company; in 1925 they created an infant formula, which they renamed Similac in 1927; in 1956 they created Ross Laboratories to continue to improve their infant products; Similac was widely used at this point, and Ross Laboratories was known for advertising to medical professionals and not just consumers; they became more heavily involved in educational outreach programmes in the 1990s
