Research Facts
Ethylhexanediol was shown by Union Carbide to potentially produce birth defects in animals, including their lungs failing to inflate when they are born. Because of this discovery, products like 6-12 Insect Repellent were taken off the shelves in the 1990s and pregnant and child-bearing age women were urged not to use it.

Research Facts
This is an Alumna reunion of the Hamilton General Hospital Training School Class of 1946. Verna Mae Sproule (1 May 1922 – 2003), the mother of the artifact donor, was a member of the graduating class; Sproule also briefly worked at Kingston General Hospital as a scrub nurse for Dr. Bingham. The donor indicates that this was likely the 50 year reunion.
The Hamilton General Hospital training school for nurses was an apprenticeship style program that began in 1890; the program was initially two years, but was expanded to a three-year program led by the head nurse and physicians; it involved formal instruction and on the job training; the Hamilton General Hospital School of Nursing discontinued in 1973 when Mohawk College took over the program.

A. B. S. & C. stands for Aloin, Belladonna, Strychnine and Cascara; despite poisonous ingredients and the designation of poison on the label, these pills were often used to treat habitual constipation.
C. E. Jamieson & Co. Limited was the name of the company from 1944 until it became Jamieson Laboratories Ltd. in 1998.
The D in diamond symbol embossed on the bottom indicates the bottle itself was made by Canadian glass manufacturer Dominion Glass Company in Hamilton, Ontario.
