Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; this item was donated by Dr. Marc Trepanier from Farnham ,Quebec; Fritz Webecke founded Webecke & Co. in Lubeck, Germany in 1946; during the 1950s the company specialized in small medical intrument steam sterilizers before continuing on with large scale steam sterilizers and vacuum sterilizers in the 1960s; the company recently celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2006; this sterilizer was different than most because it did not use water and steam but hot air only to sterilize instruments

Dental forceps, which consist of a plier-like instrument with two handles with curved blades that
are joined just below the blades; the handles are made of solid metal and are flat inside and
rounded on the outside edges; the outer gripping areas of the handles have a cross-hatched pattern
stamped into them; the ends of the handles are bent 90 deg inwards; the blades are rounded and
curved outwards with a smooth groove on the inside; there is a straight piece of cylindrical metal
that comes up between the blades with a jointed and threaded tip that rises just above the blades

Condition Remarks
The dental forceps arrived attached to a display board with wire and glue gun adhesive; the forceps
were extremely dirty with a sticky residue when they arrived; a small amount of plating has worn
off, especially at the moving joints, and small spots of corrosion are visible; overall, most of
the plating is undamaged and all moving parts move
