#2: The bookends showed minor signs of wear in the form of small scratches, and slight wear in the top corners of both pieces; both bookends were dusty; the top proper right nail and bottom proper left nail holding the plaque to bookend (a) were missing; the bottom proper left nail was loose, and the plaque was loose as a result; the proper right screw at the base of bookend (a) had developed a green patina; this had occurred with the same screw on bookend (b); the sticker on the back of bookend (b) was torn; #3: nails loose.

Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; this item was donated by the Canadian Fund for Dental Education/Canadian Dental Association; a note from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto, Alumni Affairs states that this limited edition medallion is the first in a series to be struck honouring members of the Inner Circle; for 1987, only 89 were produced; the Inner Circle commemorated a group of donors who donated a significant amount of money to the Faculty of Dentistry during their "Completion Campaign" to complete a major addition to their building

Made to commemorate the anniversary of the Kingston General Hospital as being Canada's first Parliament Buildings. In the period before Queen Victoria decided to situate the Canadian capital in Ottawa, Kingston was the nation's capital for two years between 1841 and 1843; it was ultimately moved away because of Kingston's proximity to the United States.

Commemorative hand-painted porcelain plate depicts a scene of Dr. Norman Bethune in China; Dr. Bethune is drawn wearing a blue shirt and pants and a white apron, shaking the hand of a soldier on a horse; there are 15 other people drawn onto the plate; on the bottom proper right there are eight Chinese characters, three in the top row, four in the second row and one in the third row; on the back of the plate there are two raised circles, a smaller one near the centre of the plate with a red square with Chinese characters inside and a larger one near the edge of the plate; there are three holes spaced evenly around the larger circle.

Research Facts
Dr. Norman Bethune was born in 1890 in Gravenhurst, Ontario and followed in his grandfather's footsteps and became a surgeon; Dr. Bethune is most famous for his pioneering work in blood transfusions during the Spanish Civil War; Dr. Bethune returned to Canada and then set off for China in 1938 where he operated as a skilled surgeon and teacher; Dr. Bethune operated on the front lines once again during an invasion by the Japanese in 1939 and it was here that he cut his finger while working on a patient, contracted septecemia and died November 12, 1939; Dr. Bethune is commemorated as a hero for his work abraod and in Canada; Renaude Lapointe was a Canadian journalist, Senator and Speaker of the Senate from 1974 - 1979; the Canadian Nurse's Association was founded in 1908 as an association of professional nurses

a: slight tarnish on silver, fingerprints prominent; b: faded velvet; broken trim; #2: condition largely unchanged; the trowel was somewhat tarnished, the box was dusty, and the strips of wood along the top edges were cracking and splitting along the grain; the worst damage was along the thin strips of wood that overlap the velvet surface; #3: wood cracked; box dirty.
