Set of seven dental slides for a Viewmaster; round white paper discs holding fourteen rectangular slides around edges; each disc has 7 rectangular cut-outs along edge to facilitate spinning the disc in the Viewmaster apparatus; title, manufacturer's information, and French translations of captions on slides printed with black ink; two discs titled "1 - Restoring Decayed Teeth" (a, b) with slides featuring teeth with gold crown restorations, amalgam restorations, and esthetic restorations; two discs titled "2 - Malocclusion" (c, d) with slides featuring models of mouths with open bites, closed bites and extreme protrusions; two discs titled "3 - Periodontal Diseases" (e, f) with slides featuring mouths with gingivitis, bleeding gums, and recession; one disc titled "4 - Fixed and Partial Replacements" (g) with slides featuring mouths with fixed replacements, partial dentures and onlays; four white paper square envelopes (h, i, j, k) with openings at tops to hold slides.

Description
Hand turned dental drill set consists of a bur thimble (a) and 17 hand operated dental drills (b-r) with varying tips; (a) is made of brass and covered with gold paint and has a tear drop shaped finger ring with a rectangular pivoting handle to which the thimble is attached; handle has the maker's information stamped into the front; there is a small circle carved into the bottom of the thimble which fits the base of the drills; all drills are made of silver metal and have rounded bottoms and solid octagonal handles which taper towards the tip, except for (r) which has a round handle; (b-d) all have ridged ball shaped tips and have the company logo stamped into the handles; (b) has a size 12 tip; (c) has a size 8 tip; (d) has a size 7 tip; (e) has a ridged ball shaped tip; (f) has a small ridged flat tip; (g) has a larger ridged flat tip; (h) has a size 10 ball shaped tip; (i) has a small ridged flat tip; (j) has a ridged ball shaped tip; (k) has a ridged triangular shaped tip; (l) has a ridged umbrella shaped tip; (m) has a small ridged umbrella shaped tip; (n) has a small ridged flat tip; (o) has a ridged ball shaped tip; (p) has a small ridged flat tip; (q) has a twisted three pronged tip and (r) has a round handle and a ridged rectangular shaped tip.

Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; in 1846 American dentist Amos Westcott introduced the finger ring with drill socket; socket ring was used with long handled drills that were rotated by the index finger and thumb; the ring slipped over the index finger and the drill was wedged into the thimble.
