Description
Kingston General Hospital School of Nursing gold academic achievement medal, which consists of a decorative crest on a gold bar with a pin at the back; the crest is made of gold and enamel and has a central crest with a snake and rod at the left, a cross in the centre and an arrow at the right; the top section has what appears to be two tents and a canoe; there are banners with lettering on them around the crest; the outside edges of the crest have decorative points and the top of the crest has a crown and anchor; this crest is attached to a thin flat gold bar that has a pin and clasp on the back.

Gladys (Millar) Rockel graduated from Kitchener Waterloo Nursing College, Class of 1939; nursing positions in Pontiac, MI (1940), Grand Rapids, MI (1941), and Toronto, Ont. (1942); worked in private practice with her husband, Dr. Rockel; upon graduation, nurses' caps had a length of black velvet ribbon pinned to the top edge; removable for laundering.
