Description
Cardiac suction unit, which consists of a large rectangular-shaped machine with four flat sides, a flat top and a slightly flared-out bottom that has four attached round wheels at the bottom of each corner; the front of the machine has a rectangular-shaped plastic panel at the centre of the top; this panel has three domed plastic lights at the top, two on/off switches and two amps in the centre and a manufacturer's label and two amps at the bottom; the front of the machine also has a round pressure gauge for vacuum in Hg with a round threaded knob below it, at the left side of the centre and a round increase/decrease dial at the right side of the centre; the lower left side of the front has a 180 cm. electric cord with a plug at the end coming out from it; the right side of the machine has two hollow cylindrical metal tubes near the top at the left and right sides; there are also two round pieces with a straight vertical slot cut out from the centre below the metal tubes; the centre of the right side has four equally-spaced round rubber buffer pieces; the lower half of the right side has a removable panel with four round metal clasps at each corner holding it in place; the bottom of the right side has an attached piece of metal sticking out at a 90 deg. angle; this attached piece has two rubber-lined oxygen tank-holding platforms; the back of the machine is flat, with no attachments; the left side of the machine is flat with only one attached round rubber piece at the centre; the outside edges of all four sides are painted beige; the top of the machine is flat and painted black; all four corners are slightly rounded; the left side of the top has an attached roller pump; this consists of a D-shaped piece of perspex plastic with an open centre, a large rectangular opening on the straight side and closed rounded edges; the roller pump is set onto a square piece of metal; the centre of the plastic piece has an attached piece of solid four-sided metal with straight sides and rounded top and bottom; the top right side and bottom left side of this metal piece have attached rollers; these rollers each have straight backs that hold two spherical metal balls with a cylindrical metal bar through the centre that holds them in place

Research Facts
The name MAW has bee associated with a whole range of British made chemists' sundries, dressings, surgical appliances and instruments since the early 17th century. The company grew out of a wholesale druggist company in London, later instrument maker. The company was founded by Hornby & Maw in 1807, was listed as george Maw & Son in 1826, S. Maw & saon in 1860 and S. Maw & Son & Thompson in 1870. In 1901 it was still in Maw hands as S. Maw, Son & Sons with an address of 55 Aldermanbury, London.
