Mark 4 E.C.T. apparatus which consists of (a) the apparatus housed in a square wooden box with a lid that is hinged at the back, has two clasps on the left and right sides near the front and an attached leather handle on the front; the base houses the motor of the apparatus and is covered with a panel that has an on/off switch, a mains light, a treatment light, an output plug, a treat button and waveform and ectonus dials; there is an electric cord and plug that comes out of the back of the machine; the bottom of the machine has four round rubber feet on each corner; a headpiece (b) that consists of a rectangular plastic handle with a wood-covered cylindrical bar coming down from each end of the handle and with circular wooden-backed cotton-padded electrodes at the end of the bars; there is an electric cord leading out from the left side of the handle and a circular push-in button on the right side; the electrical cord plugs into the output plug of (a); the adpiece fits into the top of the apparatus box; there is another headpiece (c) that has a cylindrical handle with a semicircular piece on the bottom, that has a wooden-backed cotton-padded electrode at each end; the top of the headpiece handle has a push-in button; there is an electric cord leading out from the side, near the top; the electrical cord plugs into the output plug of the apparatus; there are also printed instructions (d) that come with the machine; the instructions are on two pieces of paper that have been covered with plastic, folded in half and stapled along the folded edge to form a small booklet; some accessories that came with the machine include: (e) a cardboard box that contains 69 individual packages (not accessioned) of electrolyte solution, which was used to soak the padded electrodes on the headpieces; there is also a plastic bag that contains 29 replacement pads (not accessioned) and a plastic package that contains 6 metal headpiece electrode backs, 4 wooden padding backs and 5 small, 6-sided screw nuts (not accessioned).
