A metal instrument case; consists of the case (a) which has a hinged top and a fastener on the front to seal it shut; the case is rectangular with slightly rounded corners; the top of the case has the medical symbol (snake with scepter and crown); there is an instrument holder which fits into the tray and has six thin grooves for holding instruments (possibly needles?).

The Hartz company was found in 1900; the doctor who used the case used other items which have been dated to the 1960s, so it is probably circa 1960; there is a 49 engraved on the instrument holder, possibly represents 1949.
