Dr. Missen (1928-2007) had corneal ulcers from the time he was a child that left scars on his eyes. His father used to drive him to the Cleveland Clinic for treatments and wore the prescription hard contact lenses since 1942 for sports while at: Westdale Secondary School, Hamilton (1941-1946), Queen's University, Kingston (1945-1951), and Cambridge University, U.K. (1953-1956). Dr. Missen was Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering, University of Toronto. He had a corneal transplant in 2005.
