Anaesthetic suction and insufflation apparatus, which consists of a rectangular metal base with various parts attached on the top and four feet on the bottom; at the right, there is a small motor housed in a cylindrical casing with a glass Mason jar on top; the top of the Mason jar is sealed with a rubber plug which has two bent hollow cylindrical metal tubes coming out of it; the middle has two cylindrical metal parts: the back is an oil reservoir and the front is the base of the ether vaporizer; the top of the vaporizer has a cylindrical glass and metal ether reservoir; the side of the vaporizer has a metal tube with a cylindrical glass piece coming up from it; a hollow rubber tube with an ether hook on the end of it leads from this; the left side of the apparatus has an air compressor with a flywheel at the back; a rubber belt attaches from the flywheel to a small wheel at the back of the motor; there is a porcelain and metal on/off switch in front of the compressor; there are two control switches (for the compressor and the motor) at the left and right sides, under the base; the metal tubes coming from the Mason jar have attached rubber hoses; one has a metal suction tube on it and the other is attached to the compressor; there is an electric cord coming from the lower left side.
Manufacturer's label on the front reads, "SUCTION Connell INSUFFLATION // ANESTHESIA APPARATUS // TYPE D No. 1209 // INSTRUCTIONS // [listed] // BEARD.MCH.CO. // NEW YORK"; the control switches read, "OFF FINE CONTROL ON" and "OFF COARSE CONTROL ON"; the front switch reads, "UND LAB INSP // PERKINS 5A.125V-3A 250V // MADE IN USA"; the Mason jar reads, "MADE IN CANADA // CROWN"

Condition Remarks
The machine arrived very dirty and dusty; the machine shows overall wear and the belt at the back shows cracks; the rubber hoses are cracking at the ends; the Mason jar appears to be a replacement for the original suction jar; according to Dr. Ray Matthews, this machine still works
