Rectangular varnished wooden mobile x-ray unit (a); three drilled holes at top; cabinet door at front with round gold metal knob at right, two metal hinges at left, thin cut-out section at top; manufacturer's logo painted in gold above door; panel on left side of cabinet with grey metal dial pointing to twelve raised metal circles, two switches below for the motor and the x-ray; other side of panel, inside cabinet, has seven metal coils attached with black fabric-covered rubber electrical wires; cabinet interior has one brown wooden shelf in middle; cabinet fits onto base (b); door on front with clear glass knob at right and two silver metal hinges on left side; two pieces of green wood at sides of interior for support; four holes cut into bottom; base is mounted on four wheels; silver metal pole (c) with small three-spoked metal wheel on end; black-enamelled attachment in middle with flat silver metal knob, black knob, black circular metal piece with screw coming out; two metal wheels with five curved spokes, brown-enamelled with gold decoration, mounted on three parallel metal bars bolted together (d); one silver metal pole attached at top; metal ammeter gauge with clear glass covering and silver face (e); black metal dial points to numbers 3-5 written in black; silver covering on bottom half of gauge has cut-out showing metal dial gears; similar smaller milliammeter gauge has numbers 1-60 written in black (f); both gauges have black metal on bottom; black metal cone mounted on red metal round base (g); metal pole with metal attachment near bottom and black metal end (h) ; metal wheel mounted on a rectangular piece of metal with a thin metal wire wrapped around (i); green fabric-covered wire with frayed ends (j); green fabric-covered coiled twisted wire with one end frayed and the other ending in two black cylindrical coverings and metal hook ends (k); two more metal wheels with wires wound around them and attached to a black rubber electrical wire ending with a metal plug (l)

Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; this item was donated by Allan Quackenbush from Thunder Bay, Ontario; it was owned by his father, Dr. Howard Quackenbush, who graduated from the University of Toronto in the early 1920s; the Victor Electric Corporation began making x-ray machines in 1896; they became the Victor X-Ray Corporation in 1920, were acquired by General Electric in 1926, and by 1930 the company was renamed the General Electric X-Ray Corporation
