Black-enamelled metal dental instrument; gold enamel decoration around bottom and lever, with two X-shapes drawn on top; base is rectangular with one rounded end; from this end the instrument goes upward then curves back across to the other side; grey metal cutting apparatus in the shape of a square with semi-circles cut out into all sides attached on bottom; apparatus lowers down onto base when lever is pushed downward; lever is on a hinge above apparatus

Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; this item was donated by Dr. W. Shewchuck and was originally owned by Dr. J.P. Coupland from Ottawa, Ontario; this instrument cuts x-ray film or creates some type of film packing
