Black-enamelled metal dental gold foil roller; gold enamel decoration on front, sides; base curves outward, with four holes in each corner so unit can be bolted onto the edge of a table; rectangular cut-outs at front and back show two silver metal cylinders on top of each other; right ends of cylinders, outside unit, are ridged in order to spin together; large lever with brown wooden handle attached to lower cylinder, comes out right side; three ridged cylinders at top spin together; the middle cylinder has a handle coming out its top; when spun, the two cylinders on the side spin as well; these cylinders are attached to metal springs on the sides of the silver cylinders inside unit, and allow the upper cylinder to be raised or lowered, allowing the metal being rolled to be different widths

Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; this item was donated by Dr. James Varey from Grandview, Manitoba; this machine is believed to flatten gold foil or other metals for dental uses
