Research Facts
Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; Charles Henry Phillips (1820-1882) was an English pharmacist who invented milk of magnesia in the late 19th century, popular as an antacid and laxative; the Charles H. Phillips Chemical Co. was incorporated in 1885; it was believed that the anti-acid properties of milk of magnesia would help combat acids in the mouth
