Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; while this item is found in an S.S. White catalogue from 1876, the same item is also found in their 1916 catalogue, complete with ebony handle, and it is described as being a "very old form"; two all-metal versions also existed at this time; this item would be used for the removal of hollow anterior roots that would be crushed by forceps; it is used by screwing the point slightly into the root and applying traction
