Box and lid (a, b) very faded, worn, dirty; bottom of box very fragile, half missing; metal on Moldine boxes (c, d) rusty; (c) is dented, with small hole at bottom; (d) is in poor condition, severely corroded with large part of one side missing; metal tarnished on (e, g); rubber ring (f) is hardened into oval shape, but slightly malleable

Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; Melotte Moldine was used to take impressions of teeth or roots, so a metal crown or bridge could be made; this outfit does not include what is listed on the box, but includes other items; missing are a ladle and cubes of fusible metal; an 1888 advertisement states the complete outfit includes an impression cup, rubber ring, fusible metal as well as the moldine
