Research Facts
Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; this item was donated by Dr. Graham Pettapiece from Victoria, British Columbia; it is described as a 'Hound's Tooth' shade guide; the holder is made by S.S. White, the cover is perhaps from another object; this guide would be used with a porcelain kit to create inlays and crown and bridge work; the dentist would hold up the shade models beside the tooth in the mouth until the closest matching colour was found
