Dental matrix band dispenser (a); rectangular beige-enamelled base with rectangular sides and top; company name enamelled in yellow and blue on top; silver metal handle at top; 20 beige plastic cylinders mounted on rectangular bases attached to silver metal section along sides of dispenser; numbers from 1-20 embossed on bases; beige fabric adhesive over some numbers, with numbers printed with blue and red ink; pressing on numbers allows cylinders, holding the matrix bands, to bend forward for dispensing; rectangular cut-outs at sides form shelves inside dispenser; four rectangular beige plastic drawers (b, c, d, e) fit inside; various sizes of coppers bands included

Research Facts
Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; this item was donated by Dr. Don Beauprie from Deep River, Ontario; a matrix band, consisting of a small, thin sheet of metal, was held tight alongside the tooth being filled to provide a smooth, curved wall against which the filling could be packed
