Wooden dental chair (a); round metal and wood base which tapers up toward the seat; four levers raise level of chair and recline it via an internal hydraulic system; stuffed black leather-covered seat (b) and back; footrest with red rubber inserts and metal adjustable toe rest with an etched geometrical design; self-adjusting rounded metal head rest with two black leather-covered cushions on either side and is angle-adjustable via two levers on back of chair and height adjustable with a knob on the back of the chair; a third cushion on the headrest rotates 360 degrees; two wooden non-adjustable armrests; manufacturer's logo embossed on wooden kick-guard; metal component of base has embossed decorative vines.

Research Facts
Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian
dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; this item was donated by Dr. Terry Kearns from Sault Ste Marie, Ontario; this chair was used in the practice of Dr. Joseph A. Dietrich, who graduated from the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario in 1922; in 1922 Dr. Dietrich established a practice at 338 Pape Avenue in Toronto that ran until 1976.
