Handle shows signs of wear and has cracks in it at the top; there are black marks on the handle.

Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; an elevator was used by dentists to remove teeth or parts of teeth that could not be gripped by using a pair of forceps, or it could be used to loosen teeth and roots before using forceps; the S.S. White Dental Mfg. Co. first began as a tooth factory in 1844
