Pyorrhoea remedy comes in a clear glass bottle (a) with a seam on either side; bottle is stoppered with a brown cork and sealed around the top with white wax; bottle is rectangular in shape and rounds and tapers near the top forming a thin neck and tapering out slightly to form the lip; liquid inside is brown with some dark brown sediment at the bottom; there is a yellow label adhered to the front of the bottle printed on in black ink; rectangular box (b) is made out of cardboard and is ivory, yellow and green in colour, product information is printed in black ink on all sides of the box; inside, there is a brown corrugated cardboard support for the bottle (c) which is 'L' shaped and has four ridges which run lengthwise.

(a) is in good condition and does not leak despite some cracks around the wax sealant; (b) shows signs of foxing around the edges and staining on the bottom of the box; the top flaps have all detached; one top flap was reattached with acid free tape, the other pieces were discarded due to their extremely poor condition

Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008
