Face bow in a box with manufacturer's pamphlet and promotional materials; face bow (a) is a "U" shaped brace made of silver metal with an adjustable condyle bar on either end; both condyle bars are identical and consist of a cylindrical piece of silver metal which flares out at the base and has a ball on top; condyle bars are adjusted by a clamping nut under the ball; attached to (a) is a sliding silver metal bow-clamp which slides along (a) via a hole drilled all the way through the sides of the cylindrical body; body has another hole drilled through from front to back which is where mouthpieces (b,c) can be attached and is held in place by a "T" shaped screw which fits into the top of the bow-clamp; (b) is a silver, metal, "U" shaped tray with a long, cylindrical stem attached to the base of the "U" which tapers at the base; (c) is a flat piece of silver metal also in a "U" shape with two triangular holes on each side, the back two holes have a small triangular metal spike which protrudes outward; mouthpiece is attached to an offset stem which also tapers at the bottom; flathead screw (d) has a flat head and a threaded body; manufacturer's pamphlet (e) has 8 pages and is printed on in black ink; promotional advertisement (f) for Snow's Condyle Indicator is one page and printed on white glossy paper with black ink; all objects come in a white cardboard box with a top (g) and a bottom (h) piece; (g) is printed on in black ink and has a picture of a woman wearing the face bow, the product name and company information, there is also a thin black border and a decorative band on the top and the bottom; (h) fits inside (g) and is plain white.

Condition Remarks
All metal pieces show signs of wear; box top (i) shows foxing and discolouration all over the front, is ripped along the top edge and three of the four corners have ripped; box bottom (j) has multiple rips and brown stains on the back
Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; this item was donated by Dr. Don Lauriente from British Columbia; Dr. George Burwell Snow, who invented the Face-Bow and New Century articulator in the 1890's was first president of the Buffalo Dental Mfg. Co. before forming the Snow Dental Co. in 1901
