Lower dental impression tray is made of formed silver metal; tray is 'U' shaped with ends that curve downwards; the base of the tray is rounded except for a flat space for the incisors, canines and premolars; there is an empty space in the middle of the tray to accommodate the tongue; straight handle has been welded to the base of the 'U' and tapers to a rounded tip; there is a hole drilled through the handle near the base; the manufacturer's logo has been stamped around the hole in the handle; model number has also been stamped into the handle.

Condition Remarks
Scratches and dents present all over the tray and handle; shows signs of use; pink residue is present on the top and bottom of tray, this is most likely remnants of moulding material.

Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; Claudius Ash & Sons began in 1820 and was a major manufacturer of dentures and dental equipment; in 1924 the company merged with de Trey & Company forming the Amalgamated Dental Company; impression trays are used to make impressions of the teeth and soft tissue for many dental procedures including orthodontics, prosthetics, casts and models
