The Royal Ottawa Sanatorium was opened in 1910 under the name "Lady Grey Hospital." The architecture of the hospital was designed with large windows and balconies in order to treat tuberculosis, which at the time was thought to be best treated by fresh air and sunlight. It became part of the Royal Ottawa Hospital in 1969 and was demolished in 2008.
