The website provides an interesting biographical sketch of Norman Bethune. "Norman Bethune was born on March 3, 1890 in Gravenhurst, Ontario and died 49 years later in China, after dedicating his life to the advancement of medicine and humanitarianism." This explains why one stamp depicts him in China and the other in Canada.
