A cream and light brown coloured booklet looking at aspects of Florence Nightingale's life and writings; the front cover provides the title at the top of the page, the people responsible for the development of the booklet and date of booklet near the bottom, and an image of a lamp at the center; the lamp has a handle on the back, a spout at the front, and smoke coming out of the spout; the content is divided by an introduction, four subheadings and a reference page; after the introduction there is a page with a photograph attached to it of Florence Nightingale; she is seen with a white lace scarf around her neck and head, sitting down, and holding a number of papers and envelopes; the pages range from 3 to 16 including the reference page.

Belonged to Sylvia Burkinshaw, a Registered Nurse and graduate from Scarborough Hospital. Among her many roles, she worked at the Kingston General Hospital from 1961 up until her retirement in 1984.

The back cover has blue stains at the bottom; the front cover also has some blue staining on it, but to a much lesser degree; the top right corner has a slight folded mark; the staples are also beginning to bend outwards
Born at Scarborough, Yorkshire, England in 1919 and died on Sunday May 1, 2011 at the Kingston General Hospital. Only daughter of John Frederick and Margaret Burkinshaw. Following graduation as a Registered Nurse at Scarborough Hospital and as a Midwife at Queen Charlotte's Maternity Hospital London, she served as a Nursing Sister in Queen Alexandra's Royal Naval Nursing Service through World War II. In 1950 she returned to civilian nursing at University College Hospital, London. An International Red Cross Scholarship award enabled her to travel to Canada to continue her health care career. She worked at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto from 1956 to 1961 and at the Kingston General Hospital from 1961 until her retirement in 1984.
