Gould cardiac defibrillator and synchronizer machine which is housed in a rectangular painted metal case with features on the front and back; the front of the machine has the defibrillator on the left and synchronizer on the right; the defibrillator has a charge level indicator and an on/off button, an output knob (in watt seconds) and an electrodes plug-in; the synchronizer has cardioversion and cardioversion sync. pace buttons, a key which can switch the machine to automatic programming, defibrillation or manual programming and knobs for R-wave polarity and sync. position; there is a pair of paddles with long plastic handles and spiralled electric cord which plug into the detor to the synchronizer, one which leads from the 2/10 amp SLO/BLO fuse to the 115 AC 250 W Max plug-in and one which leads from the lower right side of the machine to an electrical outlet; other features on the back include a scopette plug-in, a 115AC 100 W Max plug-in, a recorder plug-in, and a 5 amp SLO/BLO fuse.

The front of the machine reads, "DEFIBRILLATOR // GOULD // GOULD // CF SYNCHRONIZER"; all buttons and knobs are labelled; there are two Honeywell Service Stickers; one on the upper right of the front (dated Nov. 12/79) and one on the right side (dated Apr. 81); the left side of the machine has a small label which reads, "HOTEL DIEU HOSPITAL // ASSET NO. 04029"; the back of the machine has two UL and two SA stickers as well as a label for the synchronizer which reads, "STOCK NO. // 8443-9010/C395 // MODEL NO. // SYDS // SERIAL NO. // 467209 // VOLTS // 115 // CYCLES // 50-60 // AMPS // .2 // GOULD // GOULD INC., I.S.D. 3400 Hillview Ave., Palo Alto, Ca. 94304"; each side of the back has a caution sticker regarding safe use of the machine; a label for the defibrillator reads, "STOCK NO. // 8418-9010/C277 // MODEL NO. // DCEI // SERIAL NO. // 1277208 // VOLTS 115 // CYCLES // 50-60 // AMPS // 5.0 // GOULD // GOULD INC., I.S.D. 3400 Hillview Ave., Palo Alto, Ca. 94304"; under this label, stamped into the metal at the back is the following: "WARNING [underlined] // HAZARDOUS VOLTAGES.
