Anaesthetic machine hose valve, which consists of a length of hollow cylindrical molded plastic tubing which is open at both ends; one end has a round metal ring around the outside edge and has a larger diameter than the other end, which is tapered and smooth; there is a threaded metal exhaust valve which comes up from the centre of the tube; this valve is round and can be raised and lowered to regulate gas pressure.

The letters "BOC" are stamped into the metal valve on the top; raised letters on the outside of the plastic tube read, "BOC // PATT. APP FOR // MADE IN ENGLAND" and "BS No 3849" // X CONDUCTIVE // PART REF 372991."

Condition Remarks
The valve arrived dirty and dusty; the plastic parts show some wear, but are complete and undamaged; the end with the metal ring has some white residue which cannot be easily removed; the metal parts are complete, show no corrosion and little wear and move easily; #2 no new damage

The valves were used to attach anaesthetic breathing hoses to masks and to regulate the pressure of gases being delivered to the patient via the hose; this valve arrived with connector (997.023.001) and was attached to anaesthesia mask (997.008.065) and hose (998.008.064) on anaesthesia machine (997.008.021) by Dr. Matthews; stored as part of 997.008.021
