See also 996.001.478; Upper Canada Village is near Morrisburg, Ont.; began because a huge hydro dam at Cornwall created a deep reservoir (Lake St. Lawrence), a 35-mile stretch of the river providing access to the Great Lakes; but 7 villages and 1/3 of Morrisburg had to be inundated, and 6,500 people and 500 houses had to be relocated; contained Crysler's farm (Nov. 11, 1813, War of 1812); between 1955-1958 collected houses and smaller artifacts; actual work began in 1956, and mostly completed in 1961; period before 1867 displayed
