Research Facts
The idea for a US postage stamp honouring nurses began with a Letter To The Editor that appeared in the December 1947 issue of The American Journal of Nursing written by Agnes M. McWilliams, a Registered Nurse from New Jersey. The stamp commemorated 100 years of moder nurse training. In total, 145,350,000 stamps were printed.
