A pair of wax models (moulage) of a uterus with a large fibroid; the models are made of oilpainted beeswax with talc, built up on plywood bases; the models show two different techniques of operating on a large uterine fibroid; (a) the fibroid has been removed by myomectomy; (b) the uterus has been incised and the fibroid has bulged out; normal ovaries and fallopian tubes can be seen at either side of this uterus; the model has been painted to depict true colours.

(a) the model shows no cracks, chips or breaks in the wax; the surface has two minor scuffs; (b) the model has broken at the right ovary and fallopian tube and needs repairs; there are no cracks in the wax and the surface has three minor scuff marks
