Syringe set in a case, which consists of (a) the syringe barrel which is made of a hollow cylindrical glass tube with open ends; the plunger end has an open round end with a slight lip; the other end of the barrel is tapered to a cylindrical tip that has a small round opening; the side of the barrel has two incremented scales on it; the plunger (b) fits into the syringe barrel; the plunger is made of closed hollow cylindrical glass with a round flat thumb push piece at the end; the tip of the plunger is flat and closed; the syringe set comes with three needles (c-e) which fit over the tip of the barrel; all of these needles consist of a length of thin, hollow cylindrical metal tubing with a sharp bevelled tip; the base of these needles is round, hollow and open at the end; above this is a squared gripping area that has manufacturing information stamped into the metal; the gripping area tapers to join the needle's tubing; all parts of the syringe set are stored in a rectangular-shaped metal case (f); the case has a lid that is attached with a hinge at the back and a clasp at the front; the inside bottom of the case has a metal attachment with 12 rounded tabs which hold the parts securely inside the case

(a) The outside edge of the barrel has the words, "SHERMAN VACCINES" and two incremented scales on it; one scale is marked, "5 // 10 // 15 // 20 // 25 m", and the other is marked, "1/2 // 1 // 1 1/2 cc"; (c) one side of the needle base has, "B-D // 25" stamped into the metal; the other side has "YALE // STAIN // -LESS"; (d) one side of the needle base has, "B-D // 26" stamped into the metal; the other side has "YALE // STAIN // -LESS" and the round part of the base has "PAT. NO. 2076121" stamped into the metal; (e) one side of the base has "B-D" stamped into the metal; the other side has "-21-" and the round part of the base has "STAINLESS // PAT. NO. 2076121" stamped into the metal; (f) the word "GERMANY" is stamped into the lower left corner of the outside bottom of the case

The glass parts are complete and undamaged; the metal needles show very little wear and no staining or corrosion is visible; the metal case shows wear; the outside edges show staining but no corrosion; #2: tarnished; #3: corrosion present
