Gillies' anaesthetic syringe, which consists of three parts that fit together; the syringe barrel (a) consists of a hollow cylindrical metal tube that tapers to a nozzle with threading on its outer edges and a small round opening; the other end of the syringe is rounded and open and has threading on its outer edges, and long flat finger grips with rounded ends at the left and right sides; a barrel top (b) fits onto the threaded end of the barrel; this piece consists of a short length of hollow cylindrical metal with open round ends; one end has threading on its inner edges and fits onto the barrel end; the other end has a six-sided outer gripping edge and an open round end; the syringe plunger (c) fits snugly through this open round end and into the barrel; the plunger consists of a solid cylindrical metal bar with a rounded tip that fits into the syringe barrel; the other end of the plunger has an attached handle set onto the bar to form a T-shape; the handle goes out at the left and right sides and has rounded ends; one side is thicker than the other
