Goldbacher's cotton sponge holder, which consists of a central hollow cylindrical metal tube with a round open tip and a cylindrical spool-shaped gripping end; a solid cylindrical metal piece fits inside the hollow tube; this inner piece has a round thumb grip ring at the end and a tip that splits into two when pushed out of the tube; one tip end flares slightly outwards, then is straight and tapers to a blunt point; this tip appears to have had its shape modified at the end by being filed; the other tip is straight, then curves inwards at the end and has a rounded tip; both tips have flat inner edges; measurements given are for closed sponge holder.
